Dr Rulene Maré is a general practitioner with a special interest in aesthetic, anti-ageing and cosmetic medicine. She obtained her MBChB from the University of Pretoria in 2005 and completed her internship in 2006 at Karl Bremer Hospital in Cape Town. Following this, she completed her community service in 2007 at the Rustenburg Provincial Hospital.
She then worked at the Unitas emergency department for fifteen months and completed further training in advanced cardiac life support, paediatric advanced life support and advanced trauma life support.
In 2009 she relocated to Alberta, Canada, where she joined a fellow South African at a busy rural family practice. It is during this time that she developed a keen interest in aesthetic medicine and completed training with Dr Martin Braun at the Vancouver Laser and Skin Care Centre.
In 2011 she started working for the Worker’s Compensation Board of Alberta in Calgary, whilst continuing practising aesthetic medicine at the Oasis Skin Institute.
After returning to South Africa, she started her journey with the Renewal Institute team and has undergone further specialised training under Dr Maureen Allem.
She is based in Cape Town and consults from the Willowbridge and Stellenbosch branches.
